Made in Hamamatsu Japan c1993. Like many of our other Yamahas you will not believe this isn’t new when you see it, yet it is 30 years old and still looks like it has just rolled out of the factory.
The U1 has many derivative models, the U10A being one of the more common. The differences between most of the derivatives is often cosmetic although I like to play spot the difference between them and notice the U10A has a couple of nice features not found on the earlier U1A. The U10A has a curved bass bridge and a fly damper on the first note in the tenor section, the U1A has neither of these.
