Made in Loughton Essex this K6 is slightly smaller than its more famous sibling the K10 but is of no lesser quality
Alfred Knight founded the company in 1936 at a time when piano sales were on a rapid downward slope as the depression years of the 1930s were still hitting hard and also the piano was battling with other new and cheaper sources of home entertainment like the radio and the gramophone. Unlike other piano makers, Alfred Knight focussed all his energy and talent to making small pianos of exceptional tone with exceptionally responsive actions. Big pianos are relatively easy to make to sound full and rich but it takes a lot of skill and superb quality materials to make small pianos this good.
