We have just donated a lovely Broadwood piano to the Hitchin Business Improvement District for use as a street piano when the weather improves. They have been asking for a while but various obstacles have had to be overcome. Not least having somewhere to keep it dry overnight and over the days when the weather is not favourable but also having a piano that is going to be sturdy enough to wheel in and out of its shelter and not need constant tuning and maintenance. We found a fabulous Broadwood piano from their prime era of 1930s which is lovely inside but the classic mahogany casework made it look old fashioned. Not a problem for Tom Hardy and the Hitchin BID team who have found a suitable unit to store it and jumped at the offer of the piano.
Update…. On Saturday 8th April the piano was seen in the market square getting the finishing touches by Hitchin Art Collective
